Lindsey Sablowski's "Thicker Than Blood" Cover Reveal!

I have been super excited about this post, because it's themed! Today is the official cover reveal for my dear friend, and author Lindsey Sablowski's new book Thicker Than Blood, which is being released this August! So for my contribution I have assembled a few ensembles inspired by the beautiful cover art.
Without further ado, check out the amazing cover!

*drumroll please*

Isn't it cool? Thicker Than Blood is the third book of The Magicians Series by Lindsey Sablowski.
Lindsey and I met on the Online community of the now-defunct Inkpop. We were writing a book together with a few other girls, called If They're Watching. And while the book never really caught much air (to catch air? Is that even a term? Well it is now), the five of us remains constant friends. So I jumped at the chance to help promote Thicker Than Blood.

Official summary:
Alaire Sencler is not the man he used to be. He left behind a foul and bloody past to be with the woman he loves, but the memories never allow him to forget what he did.
While the White magicians rise an army, their leader hides his true reasons for going to war. Meanwhile the Dark magicians seek out a new haven, one that might keep them hidden long enough to prepare for the war that is raging on outside their doorstep.
Though Alaire has a unique gift and the woman of his dreams by his side, he has yet to come to terms with Esmour's death and what the future holds for him. New faces and the revealing of the fifth Dark magicians offers hope, but only the strongest will survive in the final battle.
Whoever said "blood runs thicker than water" never knew what it is like to be a part of the current.

Check out the bottom of this post for an excerpt, but first, the outfits!
Outfit No. 1

I was so inspired by the cover, but it was a little hard to fashion a summer outfit, with the dark colors and snow and all, but I did it! I paired my lace Guess bustier, with faux leather shorts and layered a deep red cardigan over it (it looks bright red in the picture, but I assure you, it's darker). I copied the makeup look from the cover as well.
The things that stand out the most to me on the cover are the belt, the coat button, and of course, her red hair and lips. So I tried to incorporate all of those into my outfits.

Outfit No. 2

This was probably my favorite look, but it was way too hot for July! Same bustier, paired with red leggings, and a black ruffle-hemmed  jacket.
This lightweight jacket was so perfect for this, with it's lapels and buttons. It even has buttons on the sleeves, like the one on the book cover!

Outfit No. 3

Check out my ombre lippie, to match the shadowy cover look!

On second thought, maybe this was my favorite look. At any rate, it was the most comfortable. It doesn't have a belt, or buttons, but I think it still embodies the feel of Thicker Than Blood.
I paired a plain black tee, with a ruffly black skirt, and lace-striped leggings. And with my round-toe sneakers, I feel like I even got a teeny lolita-esque vibe! And because I obviously don't have red hair, I paid homage to the cover girl by tying a velvet maroon ribbon in my hair.

I loved putting together these looks, so thank you Lindsey for the opportunity and inspiration!
Be sure to buy Thicker Than Blood when it comes out next month, and in the meantime check out the first two books, Cursed With Power, and Shadows and Embers, and give Lindsey a visit at her blog saying I sent you!

With anticipation - Kae

P.S. Here's a peek at the upcoming release!

We followed the noises and passed by more trees until Léal was in our sight. He performed a spell which hit the tree in front of him. Rostland held me back and gestured he would advance first.
Slowly stepping forward, Rostland said, “Léal, you need to stop before you hurt yourself.”

He turned around and glared, but sweat covered his face and ran past his neck.
Léal replied, “You knew her for one year; I knew her for five. She kept saying time and time again she was on my side, and I never once believed her until the end.”
Rostland took another step forward, but Léal raised his hand. I considered moving closer to help if anything spun out of control, but I was confident in Rostland.
“Do you plan to kill me again? Come now, you’re making a fool out of yourself,” Rostland said in a firm voice.
Léal whispered a word and cast a spell, causing a ice shard to strike through Rostland’s chest. Every muscle in my body tensed, but Rostland quickly ripped the icicle out and threw it on the ground. The icicle broke apart into pieces, and the two men stared at each other.
