New Closet Time

Hello my friends, I have missed you. A few weeks ago I had a doctor visit and the woman wasn't exactly nice about telling me that I've gained just a little too much weight..........Okay, maybe 30 pounds isn't exactly little....but anyway, that obviously made me rethink my food and exercise choices.
Along with that, I had went through my closet and realized that 90% of my clothes were either too small or not my style. So, it was shopping time. I love showing my style in sweaters and shoes, rather than my actual shirts and pants. So I just went ahead and bought four pairs of black skinny jeans, three black tank tops, one pair of gray high tops, a pair of black small healed boots, a black sweater, and a gray sweater.
The jeans that I bought each had two to three buttons, because I realized that high waisted jeans help to:
A: elongate my legs (which I needed to seem thinner)
B: make my stomach seem smaller
      So, today, I wore this.
High waisted jeans from Rue21, tank from Wal-Mart, Royal Bones Corset Jacket from Hot Topic, and Rock and Candy Swirls boots.
I've had that Jacket for three years, but this was the first time I had worn it in months. The tank top's an old one, but the jeans and boots are brand new.

Anyway, sorry I haven't posted as of late. Promise to make up for it!

Stay beautiful my lovelies!

Bootcut Jeans + Wal-mart blouse

Um, sorry for the lo-res iPhone pics.
Here are some better-quality pics:

Is it totally typical to wear peasant blouses with flared jeans? I feel like it is. Oh well, at least I don't have that wannabe-Tumb1r-hipster look I've been bordering for the past week. I've also come to realize that a stereotypical "hipster" is not the same as a hippy, as it may have once been.
My fave Mudd jeans aren't actually flares; they're bootcut and I don't know why I was so opposed to anything besides skinny pants during all of my middle and high school years. The way they elongate your legs is life-altering. Basically.
I paired them with a pair of heeled Chelsea boots. I just realized that you can barely see my shoes as the pants are covering most of them, so I will not proceed with my "I love shoes" rant.

I found this lovely peasant-style top at Wal-mart, and I'm not ashamed to say it. Wal-mart actually does have some pretty cute and trendy clothes, but I feel like it's kind of a no-no in the fashion world. But with them following some decent trends and the prices being totally affordable, I say no more! Let us shop at Wal-mart and not be judged as total cheapskates and rednecks! That store has some pretty mean stereotypes of the people who shop there, which baffles me because everybody shops there. I've literally never heard anyone who was like "Ugh, Wal-mart? I never shop there,". Let people buy clothes where they want (translation: leave me alone! I can buy clothes where I want!)

Now I definitely need to find a pair of full-on flares. These look about right.

Where is your go-to place for happy-priced clothes? I WANT TO KNOW.

Until next time, - Kae xoxo

Thicker Than Blood release + Dress Like The Covers

Today is the highly anticipated release of the third book in Lindsey Sablowski's The Magicians Series; Thicker Than Blood. It is now available in ebook format as well as a physical paperback copy.

It is the story of Alaire Sencler, who was the leading man in the first novel, Cursed With Power. I haven't read TTB yet, but I know from CWP that Alaire--besides being a totally swoon-worthy literature crush--is a really good man, though he has his own secrets and struggles. I'm excited to read things from his point of view instead of Celestria's, as in the first book, or Leal's, as in the second.

Since you probably couldn't garner the slightest idea of what the book is about, here is the official summary:

Alaire Sencler is not the man he used to be. He left behind a foul and bloody past to be with the woman he loves, but the memories never allow him to forget what he did.
While the White magicians raise an army, their leader hides his true reasons for going to war. Meanwhile the Dark magicians seek out a new haven, one that might keep them hidden long enough to prepare for the war that is raging on outside their doorstep.
Though Alaire has a unique gift and the woman of his dreams by his side, he has yet to come to terms with Esmour's death and what the future holds for him. New faces and the revealing of the fifth Dark magicians offers hope, but only the strongest will survive in the final battle.
Whoever said "blood runs thicker than water" never knew what it is like to be a part of the current.

I had something a little bigger planned for this occasion, but as I seem to major in procrastination, I found out last minute that my printer wasn't working *facepalm*, thus my plans were foiled. (Sorry Lindsey! I'll make it up to you!).

And so this post doesn't go entirely without something fashion related, I've composed a few Polyvore sets inspired by The Magician Series.

Let's start where it all began; Cursed With Power

Cursed With Power-inspired

I put together sort of a dressy dress-up look, but I feel like this could be worn for a multitude of occasions.

Next, Shadows and Embers

Shadows and Embers-inspired

This one is more casual, and um, I would totally wear this all the time.

Last but by no means least, Thicker Than Blood.

Thicker Than Blood-inspired

This look stuck most closely to the cover because I already composed some cover inspired outfits last month to celebrate the cover reveal.

So sorry Lindsey for the overdue post, and everyone else, go check out the book!

Here are the purchase links: GoodreadsCreatspaceAmazon, Amazon UK, Barnes & Noble. (links will be updated as they become available)

And the ebook is just $3.99! Heck yeah, reading yeah!

Until next time, I will be catching up on The Magicians Series - Kae xoxo
