Disney Prom 2014

Here K and I are sitting at our Princess and the Frog themed table.

K, Samantha, Felicity, and I went to Prom on Saturday night; and let me just say that everyone looked absolutely beautiful. The theme was Disney and I really wanted to incorporate a little bit of the magical Disney vibe into my outfit without completely dressing up as one of my favorite princesses. I decided to go with a lighter look so I bought a dress that was mostly white. The top is a red/maroon velvet with rhinestone jewels going down. Normally I don't wear long earrings but Prom is one of those occasions where you either go big or go home. I also wore a pair of black and white shoes to wear with this dress because they made me feel classy.

Unfortunately, there was really bad wind and our hair kind of suffered but we managed to rock the messy hair (I hope). Overall, the evening was fun and although we couldn't quite hear each other over the loud music, we managed to fit in a few laughs. 

After dancing for most of the night K, Samantha, and I headed to the bathroom for a quick touch up on our hair and makeup.

After prom was the best part of the entire night however. K, Samantha, myself, and our friend Stef, her boyfriend, and Stef's mom all went to McDonald's to get some chicken nuggets (yum) and it made it all worthwhile.

Scenic View

Hello dearies! Last weekend K, Samantha, and I took a (not so long) trip to our lovely mountains for a photo shoot. It was a hoot and a half even though the wind was blowing and there were a lot of cars driving in the background. If you haven't ever seen a mountain (let alone been on one) I would recommend to go with a few friends because the view is truly awe-inspiring. 

On our excursion I decided to wear a simple white skirt to compliment my floral popcorn shirt as well as a pair of lace flats. The shirt is actually one-size fits all so I pulled some fabric from each side to the front in order to tie it so it was a little bit more form fitting.

The great thing about this shirt was that the fabric was pliable enough to wear either on the shoulder or off the shoulder. Personally, I love wearing anything off the shoulder because not only does it fill me with a sense of sophistication, but it shows off the natural beauty of one's own body without exposing too much.

I wore a strawberry locket to compliment the pinks and reds of the shirt. However, earlier that day I was given a very special necklace from Samantha and K (made by K) and I just couldn't resist putting it on. Even though it didn't quite match my outfit I thought it looked adorable. Having a unique and personal touch is the key to any successful outfit so be sure to wear the things that you love or things that have a special place in your heart regardless of whether it clashes with your outfit because if it makes you happy, how bad can it possibly be?

May the luck o' the Irish bless ye...

Hello dearies! It is wonderful to see you again, it has been far too long since our last encounter.

 

It is almost St. Patrick's day, and you know what that means; green. Soon there will be an assault of green clothing, hair, makeup, and food. Too bad the actual color of St. Patrick's day is blue. Wait...What?! I know what you're thinking: 'Bre you must be crazy; green is the color of leprechauns, clovers, and Ireland so there is no way that the color is supposed to be blue.'

 

I know it sounds odd but it is true. Back in the day green used to be considered an un-lucky color; imagine that...Unlucky. St. Patrick actually never wore green and was seen in blue tunics very often which is why the original official color of the holiday was blue. However, over time it has changed to green simply because of the popularity of the iconic symbols of the Irish that we all know and love.

 

Now you may be wondering why I am telling you all of this when this is a fashion blog not a history blog. Well, I believe that in order to do something you must understand why you are doing it, otherwise the action is meaningless. Green isn't just an annoying holiday color; it is a part of the history of our world, so be proud to wear it.

 

I have composed a few outfits that I thought suited this holiday and I am pleased to share them with you.

 

 

 

 

First I have a simple casual outfit that has only a slight green undertone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

As you can see, alone none of the items are all that remarkable. Plain olive pants and a plain white shirt may seem quite boring to some, but to me this outfit allows the true beauty of the wearer to be shown without distractions. Hats and sun glasses, although optional, do provide a little pizazz that really make you stand out in a crowd.

 

 

 

However, if you want to be more dressed up, whether it be for a party or just because, you can never go wrong with a dress.

 

 

 

 

 

 

This certainly has more green than the last outfit but it still has a feeling of sophistication and elegance. Not only does it have a plethora of different shades of green, it also has splashes of blue that really showcase the true meaning of St. Patrick's day.

 

 

Personally I don't like to accessorize my outfits too much but if you feel like wearing green shamrock necklaces or a goofy "Kiss me I'm Irish" bracelet then be my guest. St. Patrick's day is a day to be yourself and celebrate. Just remember, you don't have to change your style to fit the holiday; let it change to fit you.

Hello darling people of the internet, I'm Bre. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I would like to start off my introduction by saying, or rather...writing, that "style" is a preference not a label and on our blog we will never judge you by anything you may like, or not like, so be free to adore as many different things as your heart desires because that is what makes you uniquely you.

 

 

Personally, I love anything that is cute, dainty, simple, and soft to the touch. I believe that every outfit should have an aspect of femininity no matter what the occasion or whether you are "girly" or not because you owe it to yourself to feel like a confident person and a confident woman as well.

As you can see I love lace and soft colors but as much as I love to look cute, I don't love to spend gobs of money on a solitary article of clothing; let alone a whole outfit. That's why I always try to get inspiration from stores or on the internet so I can create new outfits from what I already own or from something I can purchase at a relatively low price. Most times I like the outfits I design way more than anything I could have bought because I designed them specifically for myself. Consequently, I plan to share with all of you a few tricks I have learned that will give you great style without a huge price tag.

 

 

With my blogs I want to inspire each of you to be comfortable in what you wear while being creative about your style.
