Who is Kae?

Hello internet lovelies! I'm Kae, the founder of this here style blog, and I'd like to welcome you to Just Playing Dress-up. As you can see, my stylish friends have already published a few runway-worthy looks, and considering I founded this blog, I guess that makes me fashionably late! (Feel free to roll your eyes at my feeble attempt at a pun)
My priorities when I dress myself are:
  1. That I feel cool,
  2. That I look cool, and
  3. Comfort.
I think first and foremost it is important to feel your best in whatever you're wearing. If you feel best wearing a skirt everyday, whether you're male or female, that's just as well as feeling awesome wearing boys clothes!
I definitely want to look good in everything I wear too. Not gonna lie, sometimes I look at my outfit and think "Why the heck am I wearing this? It's totes ridic.", but if I feel like I could strut like a runway model in it, which I do more often than I care to admit, who cares? I apparently don't.
And everything I wear has to have a level of comfort to it. What's the point of looking fab when you're itching in strange places, and can barely breathe? Someone please tell me.

My everyday style varies from day to day. Sometimes I draw my inspiration from a magazine editorial or current (or past!) trend. Sometimes from a certain era. My faves are the fifties, the eighties, and the nineties. And sometimes I just dress how I feel. For example, if I'm feeling a little rebellious, my look will be more edgy. If I'm feeling girly, I'll dress girly. And if I'm feeling like a party I'll dress like Miley Cyrus!

My current fashion icon is Miley Cyrus. Go ahead, judge me *cringes in apprehension*. But really, I'm so inspired by the whole of pop culture, and I love finding out the hottest trends. But I'm not a follower. When I see a trend I like, I try to make it my own. And when I think a trend is silly, I'll leave it alone. Everything is not for everyone.

Here is an example of a "going out" outfit for me.
It was inspired by an outfit Miley posted on Twitter.
Unicorn, Teal, and Bling.
As you can see, it definitely doesn't look identical to Miley's. Like, at all. Like I said, it was inspired by Miley. I made the outfit totally my own by a) not owning any designer items (although that isn't exactly a choice), and b) just imitating the structure of the outfit rather than trying to replicate it exactly.
Here's how it looked on me. Please excuse my ridiculous facial expression.
And here's an example of an every-day outfit for me.
The regular fit tee can be turned a little saucy by tying some fabric off so it shows some skin like the cool girls used to do, and I do so love Pokemon. I have a pair of high-waisted shorts almost identical to these, and they are one of my most well-worn and beloved pairs. I wear my studded combat boots and tattoo choker literally every day. No lie. The wristband and backpack are just some things that I love and try to find an opportunity to wear them every chance I get.

Now that you've seen a glimpse of my style, I hope you've been inspired. Whether it inspired you to buy a pair of cool stare-at-me shoes, or to definitely not dress like me, I encourage you to find your own inspiration, style, and love the way you look. Because if you like the way you look, who cares what anyone else thinks? I certainly don't.

Until we read again - Kae xoxo
