(Fake) Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend!

I am excessively excited to share this outfit with you, mainly because of that mondo rock dangling from my neck. Yeah, it's fake (shocker). I can't afford a bona fide diamond (what teenager can?), so I figured the next best thing was to make myself one. I made it out of polymer clay, painted it with acrylic paint, and attached some chain. It wasn't all that hard, and I'm absolutely obsessed with how it turned out!

My fascination with diamonds started with the beautiful Lana del Rey as she mentions them in a quite a few of her songs. Then I saw these "diamond" earrings from urbanog.com

And then the day I made it, Tara of The Style Rawr published a post of her wearing a "diamond" statement necklace so similar I was like:
and had to post mine ASAP.

Here's a closer look at the necklace:

It was kind of hard to photograph because the metallic paint I used was so SHINY!
Without flash

With flash

I wanted the metallic blue to be reminiscent of Disney's Cinderella slipper
The crop top is an American Apparel knock-off from Wal-Mart. I got it because it looks like the AA one Miley has, but that is for a different post. The pants are these BLANKNYC Pin Cushion skinnies I got on clearance at Nordstrom Rack. I love anything tapestry print! The shoes are my nearly-in-pieces-yet-trusty Rascal's by Bamboo.

I want to make some more of these "diamond" necklaces in different colors. How cool would a rainbow one look? But I don't need all those diamonds for myself. If you would like to purchase one just inquire, and I'd be happy to customise it just for you. I know the one pictured has a lot of imperfections, but think of it as a prototype. Any others I make will look even better!

Would you rock a faux-diamond statement piece, or are you just for the real deal?

Until I can afford real bling (lol, jk), -Kae xoxo

Hear Me Roar! F21 Tiger Print Dress

Last night I attended a younger friend's Quinceañera and wore this great dress from Forever 21. I ordered it just for the occasion, and at just under twenty bucks (not including tax), it was such a steal!

Me and Samantha with the Birthday girl (Happy b-day Lena!)
For my makeup I used Urban Decay's Naked2 and Maybelline's Color Elixir in "Caramel Infused". Not a very heavy look as I wanted to let my "natural beauty" shine through. I thought a nice red mani would really look fierce with this outfit, so I'm wearing Essie's "Really Red".

The shoes are actually my sister's and they're by Rock and Republic for Kohls. They're not available anymore but you can buy a similar pair.

As for the dress, the material is nice and stretchy but is thicker than I thought it would be. I got a medium and it fits perfectly! As you can see, the skirt falls a bit longer on me than on the model on the website, but she's wearing a small and she's got half a foot on me. But I really like the length. I think it's perfect; not too short since there's that nice open back to compensate for skin. I totally heart the neckline, and a strapless bra hides perfectly underneath.

Amazingly, I could actually dance and jump around in the heels. People couldn't figure out how I was able to, and frankly, neither can I. The dress worked great as it was long enough to "get low" without showing anything that wasn't already exposed, and it didn't even ride up that much while I  dominated  flailed on the dance floor!

So basically it was exactly what I wanted it to be. I absolutely love the dress, and felt great in it.

Until next time, remember to stay true to your style and play a little dress-up every once in a while.- Kae xoxo

Military Punk (but it's St. Patrick's Day...)

Hello, my lovelies. Happy St. Patrick's Day!
And happy birthday to my dear friends Bianca and Monique, and a happy two month anniversary to my boyfriend and I.
I am sad to say that at the moment, my camera is unavailable for use, and my grandparents aren't technologically inclined, so they can't quite photograph my with my phone (or theirs.)

So, this post is going to be short- but not so sweet- like me.

The title 'Military Punk (but it's St. Patrick's Day...) is because my friend Marissa looked at my outfit and said that I looked like a "Totally bad-a** military punk. I thought that was a cool compliment, and I also recently got my hair cut- that I can provide the photo that I showed the hair stylist.

I promise that I will post my St. Patrick's outfit as soon as possible my lovelies.

In the meantime, stay beautiful.

Yours forever,

Felicity

On Monday We Wear Green

I'm not Irish. I think my family may be of Irish descent, but I'm adopted and I'm like 99.9999% sure I am not, so I don't really celebrate St. Patrick's Day other than wearing green. Really any excuse for a fashion challenge is right up my alley. The thing is, I don't wear green, so what do I don on such an occasion? Well, if I was staying inside all day I guess it wouldn't matter. But I actually went out tonight, and I really didn't care to be pinched all evening. The only garment I have with a true green color (e.g., not teal or mint, which are the only shades of green I seem to wear) is in the skirt from this great outfit from AMI Clubwear.

Black Multi Galaxy Food Print Sexy Outfit @ Amiclubwear Outfits...
Okay, I openly admit, it's a strange get-up. I almost find it hideous, but I love it too much. It kind of reminds me the cat print outfit Miley wore, which, I'm not gonna lie, is one of the reasons I bought it. And I do realize the green is only from the lettuce (never thought I would use the word "lettuce" on this blog), but it's a pretty in-yo'-face kind of print, so the lettuce (along with the rest of the giant cheeseburger) takes the main stage. Tonight I opted to not wear both pieces at once; where I went, there was a lot of older sophisticated people and I didn't want to overwhelm them. Or give them a coronary. Heck, both of them together overwhelm me

In the few months that I've owned the outfit, I've worn the top quite a few times, but tonight was the skirt's caloric debut.

This black and silver-lurex crop sweater is from the Princess Vera Wang collection from Kohls. It's from a couple years ago, so I don't think it's still available.

This skirt is midi length. It looks like mine is the same length as the model's, but on me, it's quite a bit longer.
I have it pulled right up below my bust to get it this length!

The Guess bag is a well-worn favorite, a gift from my most favorite aunt. The shoes are BCBGeneration. The style is"Cynthia" and if you search you can still find them!
I had my doubts about this outfit, but I really ended up loving it. The sweater has a relaxed fit, and I think it  made my broad shoulders look even broader, so I'm glad my bottom half was more fitted. The skirt got me a lot of looks. That's a good thing! I think. Well in the end it made people look, and if I had a problem with being looked at, that was not the skirt to wear.

So I hope all of you had a wonderful Saint Patrick's Day, whether you used it to celebrate the illustrious Saint Patrick, and the beautiful country of Ireland and it's culture. Or as just a day to wear a green tee shirt that reads "Kiss Me, I'm Irish.", drink beer, and run around pinching anyone who doesn't happen to be wearing a visible green garment.

Remember to stay true to your style, and play a little dress-up every once in a while.

Kisses, even if you're not Irish. -Kae xoxo

May the luck o' the Irish bless ye...

"I complained that I had no shoes until I met a man who had no feet" -Irish saying

Hello dearies! It is wonderful to see you again, it has been far too long since our last encounter.

It is almost St. Patrick's day, and you know what that means; green. Soon there will be an assault of green clothing, hair, makeup, and food. Too bad the actual color of St. Patrick's day is blue. Wait...What?! I know what you're thinking: 'Bre you must be crazy; green is the color of leprechauns, clovers, and Ireland so there is no way that the color is supposed to be blue.'

I know it sounds odd but it is true. Back in the day green used to be considered an un-lucky color; imagine that...Unlucky. St. Patrick actually never wore green and was seen in blue tunics very often which is why the original official color of the holiday was blue. However, over time it has changed to green simply because of the popularity of the iconic symbols of the Irish that we all know and love.

Now you may be wondering why I am telling you all of this when this is a fashion blog not a history blog. Well, I believe that in order to do something you must understand why you are doing it, otherwise the action is meaningless. Green isn't just an annoying holiday color; it is a part of the history of our world, so be proud to wear it.

I have composed a few outfits that I thought suited this holiday and I am pleased to share them with you.

First I have a simple casual outfit that has only a slight green undertone.

As you can see, alone none of the items are all that remarkable. Plain olive pants and a plain white shirt may seem quite boring to some, but to me this outfit allows the true beauty of the wearer to be shown without distractions. Hats and sun glasses, although optional, do provide a little pizazz that really make you stand out in a crowd.

However, if you want to be more dressed up, whether it be for a party or just because, you can never go wrong with a dress.

This certainly has more green than the last outfit but it still has a feeling of sophistication and elegance. Not only does it have a plethora of different shades of green, it also has splashes of blue that really showcase the true meaning of St. Patrick's day.

Personally I don't like to accessorize my outfits too much but if you feel like wearing green shamrock necklaces or a goofy "Kiss me I'm Irish" bracelet then be my guest. St. Patrick's day is a day to be yourself and celebrate. Just remember, you don't have to change your style to fit the holiday; let it change to fit you.

Please feel free to comment and share your unique St. Patrick's day outfits, and as always, you are always welcome to come again at any time.

Until we meet again,
Your faithful friend
Bre
